Sparking back into action

Britain's longest serving national electrical distributor has received a helping hand to get back on track again after a serious fire - suspected to be an arson attack - completely destroyed its warehouse and offices.

Lucas Fettes and Partners, one of the UK's largest independent insurance brokers, pulled out all the stops to ensure that Jegs Electrical could continue to operate by arranging speedy reimbursement under its business interruption and fire cover. The Lucas Fettes team, led by Brett Sainty and Rob Higgins, were already involved at the time of the fire in an in-depth review of Jegs' insurance coverage, but sprang into action to trigger the claims payments and find temporary accommodation.

The cover was placed with one of the UK's largest insurers, AXA, who supported Lucas Fettes in dealing with the client and ensured full payouts were made.

Jegs Electrical was able to get back on its feet within just five weeks and resume its award-winning service to its customers. Says Martin Gibbons, Jegs' Managing Director: "Our thanks go to the entire Lucas Fettes team for providing an excellent level of service. Their quick action allowed us to get maximum value from our insurance cover at the time we needed it most."

Jegs are now finalising plans for a brand new purpose-built warehouse to be ready in January 2009. Meanwhile the insurance review continues, to ensure that any future emergencies can have an outcome as successful as this one.

Lucas Fettes & Partners are able to offer a comprehensive range of insurance broking services for retail and wholesale sectors. The scheme facility, which is underwritten by one of the UK's largest insurers, offers unique benefits and is exclusive to Lucas Fettes & Partners.
